In the last chapter, Craig had Alfie "taken away" because he came up lame in a race and would never be able to run competitatively again. Craig has always said that the greyhounds are not pets; they are working dogs. Becky was horrified when she saw what actually happened to Alfie and all the previous dogs that could no longer run.
1. I'm going to ask you to do something hard! Defend Craig's position: what possible reasons could Craig have for
- not allowing the dogs in the house
- not allowing Becky or anyone coddle the dogs
- not keeping the dogs around after they are no longer able to race
2. What alternatives could Craig have chosen for his dogs, once they can no longer run?

The dogs might be very fast but if you let one into a home t will start to wear the dog down.if you were to cuddle the dogs they would get confused because craig is rude but becky still shows love to the dogs.if they are no longer able to race than it will make the other dogs that can race feel like there is no point in racing.

1. I would not allow the dogs in the house because they could get paraphernalia everywhere and you would have to clean everything up.
ReplyDeleteI would not allow anyone to coddle the dogs because it could make them worse at racing because they could feel like they can just get anything they want or they don’t have to race anymore.
I would not keep the dogs around after they can’t race because if you do not want a dog to keep then you would have to feed it and clean it also you would no longer want a racing dog at home if he can not race anymore or can not make money for you.
2. The alternative Craig could have chose was to give the dogs to good homes or to the SPCA instead of killing the dogs and lying to Becky and her mom.

ReplyDeleteCraig probably didn’t allow the dogs in the house because lots of dogs shed fur and get it all over the house so Craig does have a point. I think he doesn’t allow anyone to coddle the dogs because if they get really spoiled and pampered then the won’t work as hard and they will get very fat so they won’t run as fast. I think he doesn’t keep the dogs around after their racing days are over because Craig just cares about money and if they can’t race, then they can’t make money. If the dogs don’t make money and still have to get fed. Craig would just keep losing money and not gaining money. Craig could’ve given the dogs away to families that would love him and take good care of them instead of just shooting them.

ReplyDeleteCraig probably didn’t allow the dogs in the because they can tore up the house,pee on the couch and other things.
Craig told people not to coddle the dogs because it softens the dog and they can get lazy and not be able to run as fast.
Craig didn’t keep the dogs went the can’t race any more because then he would have to pay for their food,and other items like collars and he would not have to train them any more.
2. Craig could have kept the dogs and not have ship them off to a another home,he also could have let Becky play with them.

He doesn’t let anyone cuddle with the dog because he thinks that will ruin his chances in winning.
