Do questions 1, 2, and either 3 or 4.
  1.  “Once, long before enchantment was eclipsed by doubt, an anxious and desperate king awaited the birth of his first child.”  Explain why you think the king was anxious...(Hint: what do all kings want?)
  2. The sisters say to Otto, “Your fate is not yet sealed. Even in the darkest night, a star will shine, a bell will chime, a path will be revealed.” What do you think this means to Otto or Friedrich?
  3. Look up information about the town of Trossingen in Germany. Why is this place referred to as a “music town”? Compare what you know about Trossingen (where Friedrich works in a harmonica factory) from the story to what you can learn from information sources.
  4. I'm going to ask you to something tough!  Elisabeth has joined the League of German Girls.  In Chapter 7 she gives many reasons as to why this will be an advantage to her.  Defend Elisabeth's point of view.  You may use the book for reference.
